Let’s hit the trail!

The Tanglefoot Trail is a scenic 43.6-mile paved pathway winding through the beautiful Mississippi countryside, offering cyclists, runners, and walkers a peaceful escape into nature. Built along a historic railroad line once used by the legendary engineer Casey Jones, the trail connects charming small towns like New Albany, Pontotoc, and Houston, each with local shops and eateries to explore. With its gentle grades, shaded stretches, and well-maintained facilities, the Tanglefoot Trail provides a safe, family-friendly outdoor experience that celebrates the region’s rich history, natural beauty, and welcoming community spirit.

Where can I rent a bike?

So, where is my bike?

Reserving and using a bike from the library is about as easy as it gets. Simply head to the library desk and ask to check out a bike. We’ll have a helmet ready for you and all you need is your library card to reserve a bike for the entire day (grab one here)! We also have bike sizes for the entire family. And, with access to the trail directly behind the library, you’ll be ready to roll immediately.

From all over the nation…

Leave your mark! People from all over our nation (and beyond) are coming to New Albany to bike the Tanglefoot trail. We invite you to leave your pin on our map at our visitor center to commemorate your visit. We have t-shirts available for the journey as well!
